VW Classic Weekend 2010

So I just made my hotel reservation at the Crowne Plaza in Irvine for the Classic weekend. Not too bad, they offer a rate of $93 per night, well Thursday nite is the full rate, but Fri/Sat are the lower “German Automobile Club” rates. If you check the bottom right side of this blog you can see how many days until the VW overload starts. For more info on the hotel reservations go HERE. Hurry, cause the host hotel fills up quickly, then you’ll be forced to stay somewhere else. If you are like me and can’t arrive in your own VW and have to rent a car.. I highly suggest FOX. Why fox and not Hertz, Avis or Budget? If you’ve ever rented from those guys you know how expensive it is.. Last Classic I think the car was more than the hotel. I go to LA on business at least every 4 months.. FOX is cheaper and if you love driving a PT Cruiser it is pure gold.

When I was down at the VW Classic we had a chance to go to ISP’s little BBQ. Lucky for us we liked VWs and BBQs! Turns out Anthony has a nice little operation going there. He also had a few choice cars for sale.. 3 ovals and a very nice low light convertible. I recall the ovals were from $3900 for the 57s to around $8k for the 55. The Ghia was around $17k.. but only that weekend. They had loads of parts for sale, lots of cool stuff. We had some good food and a few drinks before heading back to the hotel for more drinks. Did I mention there isn’t much going in Irvine after 7pm?

Back from my quick trip to Los Angeles. It was way too cold there this time, which is really odd, since it is usually nice and warm. Anyway, it was a good 4 day trip and we had some really good meetings. In case you didn’t know I’m addicted to Mexican food. When I’m in LA the first stop is always food. Anyway, in the 4 days I was there I ate Mexican about 6 times. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and as a late night snack. Carne asada, al pastor throw in some Tecate or Modelo and everything is good.

In LA. Some California weather.. cool and rainy. hmm just like Vancouver.
